About Safe Harbour
Supporting those who serve us
At Safe Harbour, I also provide services for our first responders, veterans, and their families. The events our first responders and veterans experience can not only have an affect on themselves, but also their loved ones. At Safe Harbour, I provide treatment for those battling trauma due to their job, treatment for helping those transition into a civilian lifestyle, and treatment for families struggling with their loved ones battling trauma or stressors from the job. I can provide support to the families of these servicemen and help them support their loved ones.
Veterans
Veterans have committed their lives to protect our Nation from foreign and domestic harm. During these times Veterans see, hear, and engage in events that later can have an affect on their self esteem, mood, families and relationships. It is my passion to want to help veterans and their families because I understand the lifestyle. I grew up with a father serving as a Navy Corpsman who served for 22 years. I understand what it is like to not have a parent at a school event or miss holidays due to his service. I want to help families of veterans who are struggling with these transitions due to deployment. I also provide services for veterans who are trying to transition back to civilian life after deployments.
Law Enforcement
Law Enforcement have sworn to serve and protect our communities and the people. Law Enforcement witness and have to engage in life threatening events to help protect our citizens. I have worked as a forensic interviewer for law enforcement in cases of child maltreatment for 3 years. I hear what law enforcement hears from these survivors and see the stress and the toll it can take. My job is to help our men and women in blue who are struggling with trauma from their job, stress between the job and their families, and help them overcome these adversities. Together we can improve coping skills to help manage the stressors of the job, and help improve a balance between work and families.
First Responders
Firefighters
EMTs
Paramedics
Dispatchers
First responders serve our community to provide a wide range of services from medical assistance during an emergency to saving a house from burning to the ground or spreading to the neighbors house. First Responders deal with life or death situations daily and have to manage these situations at work and when they go home. I am married to a fireman and see the struggles the job can bring. From our servicemen burning out from lack of sleep and physically giving their all to losing someone on the scene due to their injuries. First Responders experience these and then come home to their families to try to process, relax, and engage in their personal lives. It is a hard balance and can become overwhelming. My job is to provide support to these families and their servicemen and together we can develop positive coping skills to manage the stress, improve communication skills between spouses, and improve your overall quality of life.
Why Safe Harbour?
When we think of the word “Harbour/Harbor”, two things come to mind. A harbor is a place where ships seek sanctuary and safety during rough seas and storms. At Safe Harbour, my job is to create a safe place for you to come and process your traumas or struggles in your life. Together we can develop skills to help us manage these waters and overcome our struggles. Also the word harbour means to keep a thought or feeling in one’s mind, a secret. At Safe Harbour my job is to help you process these secrets, or burdens you may be carrying in a safe and confidential space. To help you let go of the weight it can bear on you and develop a positive and balanced life. Everyone experiences rough waters throughout their lives, together we can develop skills and utilize tools we have within ourselves to release our full potential to have a happy life.
